Granitor Systems was commissioned to deliver a new system solution for the tank farm with integration of the tank facility's control functions in existing UMS systems with an additional operator station.
Additional functions such as quarantine and batch information were implemented in the new system design. As part of the control system change, existing electrical cabinets and all IO units in the tank buildings were replaced.
The new control system is a Siemens Simatic PCS7 The existing control system and also the electrical components were aging, which led to the need to upgrade to a more modern and safer system. As the plant was rebuilt in stages, there was a need to repair existing electrical cabinets to facilitate troubleshooting and maintenance.
An integration with the existing platform also meant that specialist competence for the previous system was no longer needed. The downtime in the project was critical and the reason why they chose Midroc was that with our combined expertise within the company we could minimize the downtime.
This, together with the fact that we were able to present a deployment strategy, led to the election in the choice of Midroc.
